we is have another day to prepare for sandy. it won't be as nice tomorrow as today, but you'll be able to clean your gutters out, check your down spouts and that sort of thing. so here's the storm. it does not look particularly impressive, but again, we can't really get hung up on that either, because ironically the storm will intensify and become in some ways a stronger storm after it becomes extra tropical. here's the track. sunday, 8:00, we're looking at a category 1 way out to sea, seem east of hatteras. that's not so bad. it's the left turn that's the problem and it is still forecast to make a turn. it's a little further north now, which is good in southern new jersey and extreme northern delaware. we get into monday, 8:00 hour. then it rolls right in through southeastern p.a. i'm not sure it's going to accelerate into new york state. it may hang in south central pennsylvania. we know the wind fields are so big we are still looking at a hit. maybe not a direct hit, but i tell you what, the storm is so big, it's just a quest

sandy is still a hurricane at 20 miles per hour. we're still holding out at about 14 miles per hour because this ridge is going to hold sandy up and this area of low pressure will draw sandy in over the next 24 showers, so we could see a portion of her feet up as we go through today and into tomorrow right before it slams into the eastern coast. taking a look at the track of sandy, we still have it as a track 1 hurricane, winds at 80 miles per hour. this is still expecting to slam into the northeastern coastline anywhere from washington, d.c. all the way to new york city. we're in that cone of uncertainty and winds holding possibly at 70 miles an hour. at some point before sandy makes landfall, we're still expecting that repositioning to take place where sandy is not necessarily a tropical storm but we see it become a hybrid storm. as we take a look over the next 24 to 48 hours, these are the kinds of storm surges we'll see with sandy, all that wind on shore bringing all those waters back to the coastline. as we go to coastal massac

i will zoom in here on a sandy. i will try to get the center of the storm right in the middle of your screen. what the last couple of friends. the looks like it is developing an eye. it is getting stronger. sustained winds were 85 miles per hour in the last update, but it might be stronger than that now. it is a good thing that bypassed the mouth of chesapeake bay. the worst-case scenario there. it is not going to go this way. it is not coming up towards baltimore. it still looks like it is headed up into the southern part of new jersey later on this evening and early tonight. it is going to get stronger. it will slam the jersey coast hard. in the short term, how we are dealing -- the rain has been certainly coming down at a very good clip. it will continue to do so for the next half hour or 45 minutes. you'll notice that the heavy rain and that was going from baltimore and annapolis is now west of the cities. the rain in this kind of situation goes from east to west, instead of west to east, which is what we are us

that is essentially still the result of sandy. and i don't think it's an exaggeration to call it super cyclone sandy because that area of low pressure and that whole influence, basically had a whole sphere of influence that covered pretty much the eastern half of the united states and the eastern half of canada and much of the western atlantic and that huge cyclone even though it's long gone up to the northeast of hudson bay moving into north atlantic, the ripples in the atmosphere remain and that's the reason it has been cold and windy around here all week long. do you know on tuesday it was 73 degrees in montreal. that's how crazy the weather has gotten. as the warm air from sandy was forced way up into the eastern half of canada, the cold air up across northern and western canada was dislodged and that cold air has been riding that northwesterly wind right straight into the mid-atlantic for the better part of a week now. ever since then it pulled away. we've been stuck with the clouds and the cold and the rain, all of it. this
